Optimize Traffic Flows for Motorists, Pedestrians and Bicyclists
Intelligent Transportation Systems
Urban Traffic
FLIR’s traffic sensors help you control traffic lights at intersections so urban traffic can flow smoothly. In addition, they help optimize traffic flows for pedestrians and bicyclists, improving their safety in busy traffic scenes.
Traffic Signal Control
FLIR's video, thermal and radar sensors are highly reliable, accurate and non-intrusive detection technologies specifically designed for signal control and traffic management. By detecting vehicles so efficiently, FLIR sensors enable smart intersection control for greater safety.
Improving Safety for Vulnerable Road Users
FLIR thermal sensors allow traffic operators to factor pedestrian and bicycle movement into traffic control strategies. FLIR thermal cameras, coupled with video analytics, can distinguish between the heat signatures of bicyclists, pedestrians, and vehicles. Traffic signals can then dynamically give bicyclists or pedestrians green time ahead of vehicle traffic, as needed. As a result, intersections and pedestrian crossings become safer and more efficient.
Traffic Data Analytics
FLIR’s thermal and visual analytics generate valuable traffic data, including counts, occupancy, and classification at the stopbar or between intersections. FLIR integrates both presence data and traffic flow data into a single source in the cloud. The result is high-quality intersection data, including travel times, delays, points of origin, and analysis between points.
V2X
V2X is a crash avoidance technology that relies on communication between nearby vehicles and infrastructure to warn drivers about potentially dangerous situations that could lead to crashes, such as hard-breaking vehicles ahead, allowing them to adapt their speed accordingly and drive more economically. On-board units and roadside units (vehicle and infrastructure) constantly send and receive messages.V2X also plays an important part in paving the way to connected and automated driving.
